Tasked with providing wireless connectivity for the throngs of visitors flocking to Philadelphia to witness the historic event, we faced a monumental challenge. The solution involved deploying 248 access points and 31 ethernet switches mounted to jumbotrons across the city, offering attendees free Wi-Fi access to capture and share the momentous occasion. With a mere 7-day timeline for design, assembly, and delivery, the pressure was on.
With unwavering determination, we swiftly mobilized three specialized teams to tackle the project. Team 1 meticulously designed the solution and identified necessary components. Team 2 secured vital resources within 24 hours to kickstart assembly, while Team 3 made preparations with available materials. Through seamless coordination and flawless execution, the assembly line commenced production, culminating in custom-built skids transporting the 5-foot wireless access points to Philadelphia within the tight deadline.

Arriving on schedule at the project site, our wireless engineering team seamlessly collaborated with Xfinity to finalize antenna placement, implement cabling solutions, and install switches over a 6-day period involving 10 team members and 600 collective hours. On September 28th, 2015, with confidence and pride, our engineers returned to Philadelphia to dismantle and uninstall the access points, surpassing expectations and leaving behind a legacy of seamless connectivity during the historic Papal visit.
I knew our team had the skills, drive, and ambition to help Comcast make the whole event a tremendous success
“When asked by our fine client and partner Comcast to help them provide free WiFi for the millions of visitors for the historic Papal visit to Philadelphia, I looked at it as an honor, privilege, and a challenge, given such a short timeframe. However, I knew our team had the skills, drive, and ambition to help Comcast make the whole event a tremendous success. The call from Comcast came in on a Friday evening with only a few weeks to design and deploy an outdoor WiFi network, anchored on the large jumbotron screens in Philadelphia that could support thousands of hungry WiFi users sending videos and pictures of the historic event all around the world. Without hesitation, I accepted the project and our team performed exactly as trained and expected and delivered the quality product that both our executive management and our partner Comcast expected.”
