OAK TREE DEVELOPMENT UPGRADES CELLULAR COVERAGE AT WILBUR CHOCOLATE FACTORY

Steeped in history since its establishment in 1902, the Wilbur Chocolate Factory stood as a landmark in downtown Lititz for over a century. Closed in January 2016, the 11-acre site underwent a transformation under our stewardship at Oak Tree Development Group, culminating in a vibrant mixed-use development.

Today, The Wilbur comprises a boutique hotel (The Wilbur Lititz), luxury condos (48 on the Park), a restaurant (Blackworth), and a bustling food hall (Market at The Wilbur).

CHALLENGE

Following the opening of the hotel and condos in August 2019, concerns surfaced regarding inadequate cellular coverage. The distinctive features of the facility, such as exposed brick walls, robust timber supports, and structural steel, though adding to its charm, posed challenges by impeding cellular signals within the rooms and condos. This deficiency in connectivity led to frustrations among guests, residents, and staff alike.

DEVELOPING A SOLUTION

In September 2019, Oak Tree Development turned to us to address the cellular coverage issue. Responding swiftly, our team conducted a thorough audit of wireless coverage across all 74 hotel rooms and 25 condominiums within the facility. Armed with insights from the audit, we devised a comprehensive plan to enhance cellular coverage throughout the property.

DEVELOPING A SOLUTION

OUTCOME

Within a mere two weeks, we executed the proposed plan, which involved the installation of bidirectional amplifiers (BDAs) to extend the cellular signal reach throughout the entire facility.

The immediate impact was palpable: residents of The Wilbur experienced robust cell signal where it was once lacking. For hotel guests and visitors to the restaurant or market, the improved coverage translates to a more satisfying and seamless experience at our property.
